There's a new Annie Batungbakal in town!
Atasha Muhlach adds another feather to her cap as she is officially announced as the headliner of Newport World Resorts' staging of Bongga Ka, ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical.

At a press conference hosted by Viva Artists Agency, Atasha was officially announced as the actress taking on the iconic role of Annie in the upcoming musical. The character, originally portrayed by Nora Aunor in the 1979 film, marks new ground for the Gen Z actress, as it requires her to sing, dance, and act all at once. During the conference, Atasha appeared more than ready for the challenge, sporting a casually cool look, bombshell brown locks, and a megawatt smile.
Aside from the big announcement, Atasha also caught attention for her OOTD. The standout piece was undoubtedly her blue patterned halter top, which draped down her torso before ending in a cropped back. The exact piece is from local label Wear Peach and is inspired by the anatomy of a sea slug called the Undula. Fittingly, the top is named after the creature and comes with a matching pair of shorts. Both pieces are available to shop online for P7,500.

What We Know So Far About "Bongga Ka, ‘Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical"
Atasha transports herself to the glitz of the late '70s with her casting as Annie. The original story follows the titular character's journey of self-discovery as she is guided by those around her and finds romance along the way. The jukebox musical will feature nostalgic hits by the band Hotdog, including "Annie Batungbakal," the song that inspired the story.
Atasha will be joined by some of the brightest names from screen and stage. Namely, she will be acting alongside Sam Concepcion, Jeff Moses, Jackie Lou Blanco, John "Sweet" Lapus, Ring Antonio, and more. The show is slated to open in September 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, with tickets going on sale this July.
