Preview has come a long way since its inception in 1995. To celebrate its 150th issue, the glossy has released Preview Art, a special art book that is curated and guest edited by regular collaborator and contributor, Norman Crisologo.

“We wanted to explore fashion and beauty in a more artistic sense,” explains Editor-in-Chief, Pauline Juan. “Preview is about fashion and beauty but there's a certain kind of gloss that's given to the treatment of its subjects. With artists (take away the airbrushing, take away the styling), there's a certain rawness to the work.”

Norman, a former painter turned art-collector, turned to the local pool of artistic talent, inviting them to be part of the book. You'll see a mix of works by painters like Geraldine Javier and Robert Langanegger; photographers Steve Tirona, Wawi Navarozza, and Juan Caguicla; and other visual artists. Of course an artistic discourse on fashion wouldn't be complete without some of the country's top designers—you'll find a piece by Joey Samson gracing the cover and more from the likes of Rajo Laurel and Ivarluski Aseron, and more inside.

“It's a collectors item,” cites Pauline, “and if you find you're lacking in art in your home, do as all the top décor magazines recommend and frame a page from this book.” Each photo is laid-out to allow for this, credits are published at the back so none of the brilliant images are marred by text.

Preview Art is available for P1000 at selected art galleries around the metro, Fully Booked and Power Books.
