There will be no shortage of tote-able beauty this December, thanks to Amina Aranaz-Alunan. The accessory designer and her Aranáz team doled out three mini-collections of extremely covetable bags for the  holiday season, all of which feature her most favored Filipino material, mother-of-pearl. "We have been working with this material for over a decade in various ways and techniques," she says.

The three mini-collections—Romantique, Metallico, and Concha—possess distinct, individual styles, but they're all tied together by the trademark  Aranáz aesthetic. "For the Romantique collection, the pieces are very 'Aranáz,' Amina says. "It's what we would consider as part of our classic look because they exhibit signature Aranáz aesthetics of femininity, intricacy, sparkle and glamour."

The Metallico and Concha collections, meanwhile, are more understated. "We wanted to do something a little minimalist. I think this is very in tune with fashion now... stripping away excess. We just wanted to exhibit the beauty of the materials stripped from embellishment but still remaining luxurious and handmade."

Asked how this collection ties in with their past outings, Amina declares, "The pieces still remain eye-catching. This is what we somehow like to do each collection. We want to create pieces that will instantly transform an outfit. We want our bags to be the crowning touch on your outfit that will spell the difference." As for the contrast, Metallico and Concha "are simpler [and] without embellishment."

All items are already in store, so if you have yet to shop for the handbag-loving women in your life, or if you fancy yourself a pretty little Christmas gift, head on over to the Aranáz boutiques. And stay tuned for the reveal of their exciting pre-summer 2011 collection: "We are still working with a minimalist aesthetic but with an origami inspiration," Amina reveals.
