Local footwear label Annie & Lori has been in the business since 2015, and since then, they haven't stopped upholding local craftsmanship by way of their chic, functional, and distinctly Filipina designs. Just ask style mavens among the likes of Kelsey Merritt, Camille Co, Laureen Uy, Kelly Misa, and Bea Soriano-Dee, who've all been spotted wearing stylish steppers from the brand.
Annie & Lori made our nation proud when they landed a spot in the Fashion & Film issue of British Vogue back in January 2020— the featured pair was the Meghan Inabel, a low-heeled mule made with handwoven Inabel, an indigenous textile from Ilocos Norte, and high-grade cow leather.
Staying true to their identity as a championer of local talent, the brand is now using their platform to promote appreciation of Filipino artistry, and, in line with the fast-approaching deadline of voter's registration, they are also calling the public to action.
In collaboration with watercolor artist Bianca Luztre, Annie & Lori has launched a limited collection called Piliin mo ang Pilipinas. The artist will be adorning their Anya pair with beautiful Filipino-inspired handpainted designs.
"Our goal at Annie & Lori has always been to represent and champion our Filipino artisans on the global stage. While it has been a real struggle to achieve that during this pandemic, we continuously challenge ourselves and make sure to keep 'being a global Filipino' at our core," they wrote on Instagram.
"Aligning with our goal during this uncertain time is our latest hand painted collection, PILIPINAS, or Piliin mo ang Pilipinas, a collection that celebrates Filipino artistry and Filipino craftsmanship, and supports local sapateros and artists.
"A new chapter will begin in Philippine history next year. Before this chapter closes, we encourage more Filipinos to REGISTER to vote, be more involved, be more informed, and be more proactive in choosing our future leaders," they wrote.
The handpainted pairs from the Piliin mo ang Pilipinas collection are available for pre-order only. The pre-order period will run from September 8 to September 17. The estimated lead time per order is two weeks.
One handpainted pair will cost P2995. The floral design is currently the collection standard, but customers are also free to coordinate with the Annie & Lori team for different designs.
