There's nothing like following a designer from the beginning, and watching him grow into a global talent. Case in point: PEFTA alumnus Ken Samudio who is quickly bubbling up in the international style consciousness. His calendar is booked with trips to Milan and Paris for, well, Fashion Week—no big deal.
Kidding aside, the designer is on a roll—and we couldn’t be more proud of him. So as he boards that plane today to continue with his worldwide wardrobe domination, we’re making closet space for his Fall/Winter 2015 collection entitled, Amalgamy.
“It’s my first stint at styling. I wanted the models to be as lifeless as possible… No emotions and slightly on the frail side to give the look book a haunting feel,” Ken reveals.
The collection is inspired by oil spills. “If you notice, the shades are muted by the seemingly flowing black color.”
Ken is a marine biologist by profession. (What?! No fashion background needed to make it into Vogue?) This passion for the ocean life extends to his collections. “I try to tell a story through my collections.”
Each product took about two weeks to finish. Everything is hand-embroidered one piece at a time.
These beauties are available at Thecorner.com, Harvey Nichols London, Barneys New York and soon at LuisaViaRoma.com.
