Evidently, Alex Eala is steadily becoming a recognizable name on the global tennis scene.
On August 25, former Vogue US editor-in-chief Anna Wintour joined the crowds at the 2026 US Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. While attending the Fan Week tournaments, the longtime fashion editor spoke with members of the press, during which she appeared to take notice of Filipina tennis star Alex Eala.
Anna Wintour Praises Alex Eala for Her Style
A true-blue tennis fan herself, Anna shared her thoughts on the bridge between fashion and the sport. “Well, I think it’s really interesting, especially when you look at players like Serena [Williams] and Naomi [Osaka] who really embrace fashion and express themselves with it,” she stated.
She then brought up Alex Eala, whom she referred to as “the young Filipino star.”
“You know you could see even in such a young star you could see how interested she is in fashion and how she wants to learn about it and follow it,” she said of the 21-year-old athlete.
She concluded her brief statement by reflecting on the natural connection between fashion and tennis.
