It's gearing up to be a big year for the local brand.

As local brand Harlan + Holden eyes international expansion, the once small retail store takes another big leap by hiring Alessandra Facchinetti, an Italian fashion designer who was once creative director at Valentino, Tod's, and Moncler.

The news of this movement was announced on The New York Times. After taking some time away from helming luxury giants, Alessandra is taking steps toward Asia and her first collection for the Philippine brand will be released in June. It was far from a short and sweet account—Alessandra divulged further information on the new line, she plans "only to use low-cost and easy-to-handle materials that can go in the washing machine and are resilient to humid climates." Yes, that sounds about right for the Asian market.

Facchinetti is moving forward and making sustainability a focus because, beyond that, the garments will be produced in Asian factories that harness solar energy.

“She has engaged with every stage of the rebrand and has fit right in with all the teams, wherever they are in the world,” said Harlan + Holden founder Emmanuel Pineda in an interview with NYT.
