Following the news of Raf Simons’ departure from the house of Dior, Lanvin’s creative director Alber Elbaz joins the list of designers who made major headlines for vacating their posts.
In a statement released yesterday, the 54-year-old Israeli designer who has served as the creative director of the French fashion label for 14 years announces his departure due to the decision of the company’s major shareholder, owner Shaw-Lan Wang. It reads: "At this time of my departure from Lanvin on the decision of the company’s majority shareholder, I wish to express my gratitude and warm thoughts to all those who have worked with me passionately on the revival of Lanvin over the last 14 years.”
Elbaz’s official statement.
Now, with another seat still vacant at Dior, will we see Elbaz filling in the post that Simons left? Let’s all wait to see where this game ends.
