Picture this: You’ve been feeling irritable, eating nonstop, and crying over pretty much nothing. Fast forward to the next day and surprise: It’s that time of the month. Sound familiar?
Any woman can tell you that menstruation, when it comes around even 28 days or so, can have a drastic effect on one's daily life from overall mood to physical capacity and that includes exercise. Even the most disciplined fitness junkies can struggle to get a workout in when their period comes around. One way to make it easier is by knowing how to adjust your routine, regimen, and equipment to best suit the changes that your body goes through. Adidas, for their part, is giving women an activewear option to ease the struggles of menstruation. Say hello to their new TechFit Period-Proof collection!
The TechFit Period-Proof line includes tights and biker shorts, though Adidas notes they will be adding more pieces down the line. Each pair of bottoms is built with what they call Flow Shield Technology composed of an absorbent layer, a wicking layer, and a leak-proof layer, which all work together to prevent any leakage from the crotch area whether you're wearing a pad or a tampon. The bottoms also feature a bonding frame to hold the layers together and keep the tights securely in place, so you can move comfortably without any pad displacement. Despite the many layers, the activewear promises to be lightweight and breathable, so you can exercise with no worries.
Take a look at Adidas' new Period-Proof Tights and Biker Shorts:
The launch is part of Adidas’ long-term Watch Us Move campaign, which is committed to supporting the athletic needs of the female community and to help break the barriers that keep them from participating in sports. While researching and developing the TechFit Period-Proof line, they found that one in four girls around the world drop of out of sports during adolescence, one of the main reasons cited being fear of leakage whilst on their period.
