A Deaf Male Contestant Wins America's Next Top Model Cycle 22 Meet Nyle DiMarco.

Making history not just once but twice, Asia’s Next Top Model’s first-ever deaf contestant Nyle DiMarco has been officially named the winner of Cycle 22, the reality-based TV modeling competition’s last season after it debuted in May 2003.

As if saying goodbye with a bang, ANTM made its graceful exit with an equally historical winner. Nyle, a New Yorker who was sought by the producers of the show via social media after he appeared in the American sitcom Switched at Birth, landed the most coveted spot. The 26-year-old male model said in an interview, "Being a deaf person on a television show alone is pretty groundbreaking so it felt incredible just to be on the show, but to win it was amazing!"

On his Instagram, Nyle also thanked the show and the judges for giving him this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity:

“Thank you Tyra. Thank you ANTM. Thank you Miss J, Kelly, and Yu Tsai for believing in me and giving me the voice! I will never disappoint you all and I will keep thriving!”
