Since 2009, style and society mavens Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Kaye Tinga spearhead a charity gala to raise funds and awareness for two beneficiaries: the Philippine Red Cross and the Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation, in the spirit of fashion and true generosity.

This year’s biggest fashion gala for a cause will focus on Chito Vijandre in his 40-piece haute couture collection celebrating Filipino fashion and artistry over time. He joins Red Charity’s league of world-renowned designers such as Dennis Lustico, Michael Cinco, Cary Santiago, Ezra Santos, Furne One, Jojie Lloren and Lesley Mobo.

Chito had always been into the arts, standing out from the crowd, competing and winning competitions locally and internationally, more notably in the Mexico Olympics where he represented the country in its art forum.

Going into the world of fashion, he gained patronage from Manila’s elite like La Divina Chona Recto-Kasten and Tingting Cojuangco. Introducing the beaded flapper gowns to the local fashion scene, Chito has etched his talent and eye for fashion in the minds of Filipinos. His craftsmanship transcended into other fields like interior design, founding concept store Firma with his partner Ricky Toledo.

Thus, his finesse and gift in the arts will be celebrated in this year's Red Charity Gala, encapsulating our Filipino history in haute couture pieces that will surely leave you in awe.

The Red Charity Gala is directed by Ariel Lozada and will happen on October 8, 6pm at the Shangri-La Hotel at the Fort.
