They went back to the future.

Chanel didn't just redefine being fashion forward for the upcoming season by taking some inspo from the future; they also made sure that the past didn't get left behind by adding it to the mix. Read on to see how the French luxury brand went back to the future in style!

1. The Grand Palais in Paris became Data Center Chanel.

There were tons of wires and computers all over the walls!

What better way to give fashion a futuristic update than with bags with LED lighting?

2. Two robots in Chanel tweed suits opened the show.

Apparently, people started calling this stylish Stormtrooper-esque duo Robo Coco.

3. The models rocked beauty looks that were so gorgeously '90s.

Sam McKnight opted for side ponytails and flat brim baseball caps worn sideways for the hair, while Tom Pecheux went heavy-handed with the blush application and pink gloss for the makeup.

4. The clothes went from black to neon then back.

The venue may have looked straight of the future, but the clothes went as far back as the '80s for some inspiration. There were neon-colored suits in their classic Chanel look, tulle dresses, and black jackets with colored wire detailing that matched the theme to a T.

5. Kendall Jenner was a no-show.

Because of the recent incident involving her sister Kim, Kendall wasn't able to walk for Chanel this season. Karl Lagerfeld walked in the show's finale without her on his arm.
