In every fashion girl’s life, there comes a time when she opens a closet full of garments and instead of excitedly pulling out pieces, she dons the look of despair. Despite having a sizeable amount of clothes, she realizes she has nothing to wear. It’s a dilemma that even our favorite fashionistas face every day. What we have to realize is that there’s nothing wrong with going back to our wardrobe staples and making them feel loved again.
History repeats itself. Fashion isn’t exactly exempt from that. While pieces are refreshed, they’re never worn in the same outfit twice. Below, we’ve taken cues on the beloved re-wearable pieces of our darling fashion bloggers and how they mix and match their OOTDs without anybody noticing.
1. Dress your ripped jeans up or down.
While Anne Curtis may not be dubbed as a fashion blogger, she certainly deserves that moniker. She’s proven time and again that her personal style deserves a cult-following in the fashion industry. Case in point, the way she repeats her distressed denim. Anne shows us that you can either opt for a grunge vibe with a knit top and leather boots, or dress it up with a white silky blouse and metallic stilettos.
2. Take your printed frock to the beach and to the streets.
The queen of flowy frocks has done it again! The key to surreptitiously sneaking in the same piece in your Instagram grid is by juxtaposing it against different backgrounds. In Kim’s case, she takes her scallop-hemmed dress to a sunny day at the beach and then pairs it with strappy heels during a rainy day at the café.
3. Play your monochromatic top with different hued bottoms.
A dressy black top is as essential as a little black dress. The only difference it holds over the classic piece, is that it’s much easier to play around with. Mari loves hers with a pencil skirt. But she either keeps it colorful and fun with a printed red skirt or keeps it cool with gray and a leather jacket.
4. Wear your high-waisted denims with tops of contrastive fabrics.
The easiest way to re-wear a piece is by attaching it to ensembles that portray diverse personalities. Martine emulates the classy and chic lady ready for a night out with a laced long-sleeved blouse and a sleek ponytail. But she can also be the laid-back chick with messy hair and a simple striped tee. The same jeans tell totally different stories.
5. Spice up your silk neck scarf by wearing it against non-identical necklines.
The choker definitely wins in the it-accessory of 2016. However, it’s not limited to leather bands. The same style translates into a silky neck scarf tied around the neck. Tricia wears hers alongside a dress with a deep-V or a structured turtleneck.
We’re changing the question from having nothing to wear, to wanting to wear everything all at once.
