Leave it to our ancestors to ingrain in us the (highly erroneous) notion that shimmer is reserved only for nighttime events. Back in the days when ballrooms were the height of partying it up, men and women alike piled on their finery—jewels, velvet, intricate beading, and pretty much anything that caught the chandeliers' candlelight—for only the most select occasions.
Newsflash: it's 2016, and we can very well wear sequins anytime we please. Below, three ways to get your shine on (even while the sun is still up).
EASY: Glitter t-strap pumps
The most foolproof way to glimmer is by stepping out Cinderella-style; that is, in your own version of the glass slipper. Pair a silver glitter pump (in a girlish, low, block-heeled version reminiscent of childhood kicks) with no-nonsense mom jeans and a dainty ruffled poplin top. How sweet!

MODERATE: Sparkle slip dress
An ombre sequined dress may look intimidating, and with good reason. Pare the glitz down by tucking a simple white t-shirt underneath, then don a pair of black suede ankle boots. The plainness of the tee and the boots' matte finish balance out your glitter bomb of a frock!

HARD: Sequined trousers
This is where things get tricky. If you're going for a pair of full-on sequined pants, start by picking a dark or neutral-colored version. Go for that high-low athleisure aesthetic by throwing a slouchy gray knit on top, followed by basic white kicks on your feet. Sparkle has never looked cooler.
