“These photos meant something then. Looking at them now brings an all-new meaning to Bench. I want to walk you through my journey with Bench,” top photographer Ronnie Salvacion says of his photo synthesis exhibit of his most memorable ads for the retail giant, with which he’s been collaborating with for 17 years. The photos, which were actually taken from a book Ronnie personally compiled and gave to Ben Chan last Christmas, feature the most iconic and classic images in recent pop culture history, from ’90s hunks juxtaposed against local Filipino street imagery—The Guwapings!—to Bench’s “first family,” Richard, Lucy, and now Juliana Gomez, to racy campaigns of matinee idols and national sports heroes and even to international superstars (remember Jasmine Trias?).

Ronnie’s equally nostalgic and provocative shots are all in his book, 25 Important Things I Learned From My Bench Shoots (P320, Bench stores).
