11 Filipino Artists Design Novelty T-shirts for Bench Because #LoveLocal.

Bench is furthering its Love Local campaign by commissioning talented Filipino illustrators to each create an artwork to be printed on the local retail giant’s classic white tees. Representing some of the country’s most iconic brands including Goldilocks, Datu Puti, Mang Tomas and more, the Love Local collab tees will be available in all Bench stores nationwide. Go on, show your love and support for the Filipino culture by putting on a white shirt!

ABI GOY for BENCH

“I wanted to portray Bench in a futuristic setting - where robots are driven by humans, exploring new territories, new planets."

ALDY AGUIRRE for SKYFLAKES

“It was fun showing how Skyflakes can be carried around anywhere and can be depended on anytime needed, just like how the final artwork revolves on the idea of how we depend and rely on each other.”

BETH PARROCHA for LILY'S PEANUT BUTTER

“In my design, the position of the guy's arms serves both as a device to focus and highlight the brand name and at the same time show the character's love for the product, the pose of the arms being heart shaped."

BRENT SABAS for VICTORY LINER

“Life is a journey that allows you to feel different emotions along the way. While on board the Victory Liner, you know that you're safe and cared for so you can open up your senses and feel every bit of your adventure without worries. “

ELECTROLYCHEE for CHOCNUT

“We took on a quirky, geometric and minimalist approach to Chocnut by illustrating a king. It's simple, direct and playful.”

FRANCES ALVAREZ for CHAMPION

“In my illustration, I wanted to depict an image that's clean but endearing, so I gave the clothesline a familiar sight present in every Filipino household a whimsical spin to it."

“The directional busts of the datu were laid into playing card orientation (mirror-image and flipped over horizontally) to denote the brand's strength and truth to its ingredients as well as the representation of the twin datus that seem to be guarding the brand to show loyalty."

PERGY ACUNA for MANG TOMAS

"Tattooed macho dolls and the Macho Ganado tagline fits right up my alley. I want to create characters that are funny and likable even if they're a bit strange.“

ROBERT ALEJANDRO for LIWAYWAY GAWGAW

“I jumped at the chance to 're-do' the Liwayway packaging. I've always known of its iconic design. I find the woman ironing so cool wearing traditional clothes and pearls - love it!”

ROMMEL JOSON for BENCH

“The illustration plays around with the Bench logo as a container of different images and textures, and it merges that with the idea of infinite images. So the illustration becomes a t-shirt within a t-shirt and so on. In a way, it’s like saying: Bench forever.”

SERGIO BUMATAY for GOLDILOCKS

“I'm always curious about how products are being made in factories. My design is inspired by my favorite children's book stories and illustrators mashed-up in reimagining how things work inside a magical factory.”
