Last September 4, 2025, the world sadly lost one of fashion's giants—Giorgio Armani. He was 91 years old.
Since launching his label in 1975, the legendary Italian fashion designer has transformed his brand into a lifestyle. In the context of fashion alone, Armani has multiple lines, which were streamlined in 2017 into four—Armani Exchange, Emporio Armani, Giorgio Armani, and Armani Privé.
Over the years, the latter three have collectively birthed hundreds of runway shows that reflected the late designer's vision, captured the zeitgeist, and solidified the Armani name as a key player in fashion.
10 of the Best Armani Collections Throughout Fashion History
1. Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 1995

This collection was a beautiful display in soft tailoring, which eventually became one of the identifiers of the Armani woman. Looking to the East for inspiration, Armani revamped the usual jacket with colorful and vibrant floral embellishments.
2. Emporio Armani Spring/Summer 2009 Menswear

This Emporio Armani collection made the headlines because all of the models had bleached eyebrows. While it's not groundbreaking in today's time anymore, doing so in 2009 was a statement—one that showcased the intertwined relationship of fashion and beauty.
3. Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2009

Shabby chic was the name of the game for Armani's S/S 2009 collection. A departure from structure, it featured a play on silhouettes and a mix of separates, all while keeping everything grounded with its neutral color palette.
4. Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 2009

This collection was a celebration of distinctions, nuances, and subtleties. Armani chose to send several looks down the runway in pairs, which at first glance seemed identical. The late designer reminded us all to pay close attention to the details.
5. Armani Privé Fall/Winter 2010 Couture

How did Armani take power dressing to the next level? He pressed, er, placed the buttons. The first Armani Privé collection in our list is an example of how detail and placement go hand-in-hand. Furthermore, it's a testament to the thought process that goes into every collection.
6. Armani Privé Fall/Winter 2011 Couture

It's clear that Armani loves to take inspiration from Asian culture. In 2011, he transported everyone to Japan with his reimagination of the kimono. In collaboration with Philip Treacy, who literally topped everything off with origami-like headpieces, the couture collection was a stunning display of architecture from head to toe.
7. Emporio Armani Fall/Winter 2016

This collection was a fun and visual foray into the digital culture. While creating patterns and faces from shapes isn't necessarily new, Armani's take on it felt more intentional than playful.
8. Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2021

Did you know that Armani was the first major fashion brand to cancel its shows during the pandemic? Having his priorities in check, the late designer turned to comfort for his collection that was dedicated to the post-lockdown woman.
9. Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 2023

There was a certain sensual and seductive energy surrounding Armani's F/W 2023 collection. Maybe it was the fringe. Or maybe it was the fact that the show was entitled Cirpria, which translates to face powder. After all, there is a notion of intimacy when it comes to applying makeup in public—it draws people in, as evidenced by the finale.
10. Armani Privé Spring/Summer 2025 Couture

It only feels right to end the list with the stunning collection that marked Armani's final public appearance, which he did at 90 years old. In an interview with Imran Amed, the late designer shared, "When I was 70, I realized I was being successful, so I caught the wave and went on working." And indeed, he went on working.
