You have until February 10 to audition!

Though they are focusing on people who can play Chinese-Singaporean or Asian characters, anybody in the world can audition. And yes, they’re still looking to cast the lead roles.

Here’s what you need to do:

In a two-minute video, say your name and the country you live in, demonstrate a unique talent, and perform one of the four scenes listed on their website. You must be 18 years old or older, and you have to share your video on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube with the hashtag #CrazyRichAsiansCasting.

To clarify, this isn’t a contest; instead, you could end up with a job…in a Hollywood movie—which sounds much better than a contest, TBH. In his announcement, Jon said, “We may not find anybody that fits or we may find the next big star. We really just wanted to open up the process because we know how hard it is to get in the door of a movie, especially for all Asian characters of different shapes, sizes, ages, and talents.”

Since the announcement, there have been mixed reactions from the Internet. While some were excited about the opportunity, others were quick to dismiss it as a PR move; Facebook user Boycott The Jem Movie commented:

“Ah, Chu. Going at it again, huh? People, with the Jem movie, he did this too. The roles already had been filled by actual actors, but to market himself and his movie, he pulled this audition scam. In the end, he did include many of the audition submissions in the film, but manipulated them to seem as if they were thanking his movie version of Jem for changing their lives. This man is no good. You've been warned.”

Yikes! But, if we learned anything from La La Land, it can’t hurt to try, right? You can find more details on how to audition here
