After a month of speculation, excitement, and the whole nation coming together to support the event, the moment finally came. With baited breath, we waited for the announcement, and Miss France Iris Mittenaere was crowned the winner!

In the end, she went head to head with Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier at the Q&A portion. "When you fail, you have to be elevated, and you have to try again and keep going. If tonight I am not the winner, I will still have the great honor of being one of the finalists," says Miss France, which landed her the title of Miss Universe 2016.

She first impressed the judges with her winner-worthy golden evening gown in the preliminaries. She was also the only competitor who wore single-soled heels while the rest were in platform heels. Big plus in our book!
