Known for her dramatic and comedic acting range, Diane took home the Oscar, BAFTA, and Golden Globe trophies for her titular role, which was written for her, in Annie Hall. In 2017, she received the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award. She was also nominated multiple times for a Tony, Emmy, and SAG Award.
2. She practiced the Meisner acting technique
Contrary to the popular method acting, Diane was a firm believer in the Meisner technique, which focuses on the ensemble she acted with. She described her acting as reliant on her fellow actors, citing the need for their help to strengthen her own. This, among many other reasons, is why Diane was so beloved by her colleagues.

Ever since Diane played Annie Hall, their respective styles became synonymous. With her style described by Ralph Lauren as eclectic, Diane wore suits, hats, layered accessories, vests, ties, and scarves.
