These talented Filipino musicians will make your special day even more memorable!

When planning a wedding, there’s an age-old question that needs to be answered: Band or DJ? For some couples, it doesn’t have to be a choice at all as they can easily book both, but for those on a budget, a band just delivers that interactive experience and a more personalized feel that you might not get from a DJ, especially for the more intimate parts of the program. Aside from your photographer and videographer, the entertainment is a valuable part of any wedding to really set the mood. Book your wedding band for that dreamy reception, stat!

1. Sound Salad

There’s no doubt that Sound Salad is one of the premier wedding bands in the country, with 14 years’ worth of experience. Owner and band leader Nina Comsti left her job as a PR officer for a restaurant chain in 2003 and brought together friends and talented musicians (she stalked choirs at EDSA Shrine to look for talented male vocalists!) to form what Sound Salad is today.

3. Perfect Fourth

Technically, Perfect Fourth isn’t a band, but an a cappella group, perfect if the both of you are music lovers. The group is composed of four singers with quite the musical pedigree—all of them are alumni of the Philippine Madrigal Singers and the Ateneo College Glee Club. Aside from their background, they’re also committed to giving you a truly personalized experience, so all their rates are customized and fit for your specific needs.

ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

How was your vocal group formed?

"Perfect Fourth was formed in 2012, with four friends who had worked together previously. We all had choir experience and decided to create a group to perform in all manner of events. We are not a band; we are an a cappella vocal quartet, which means we specialize in singing without instrumental accompaniment, just pure voice. For clients who are interested, we can also add a pianist (and possibly other instrumentalists)."

How long have you been performing at weddings?

"Perfect Fourth ventured into the weddings scene around 2016. Separately and with other groups, we have been performing in weddings, concerts, and all types of events for many years."

What genres do you perform?

"We do not wish to exclude any genre in our repertoire, yet we mainly specialize in elegant, soothing a cappella covers of standards, and classic OPM. We also venture into folk songs and liturgical music for the mass. Definitely, our goal is to cover most genre fit for the clientele."

What packages do you offer?

"We aim to gather all available event details, then send an accurate, all-in quote, based on client needs.

"Our standard package includes four singers (SATB: soprano, alto, tenor, bass), a conductor (Paolo Pardo, also our bass and resident arranger), standard Catholic mass repertoire, plus five to seven songs for bridal march, pictorials, and recessional march, with possible solos and duets of love songs. Aside from our growing repertoire, we also allow song options and we're open to suggestions.

"Optional add-ons: pianist and other instrumentalists; special song arrangement by Paolo Pardo"

Do you do out-of-town weddings? What are the corresponding fees or conditions?

"Yes, we do. Since we're just four people (or five, if with pianist), you can take us anywhere! We're happy to explore options with the client to work out transportation, accommodations, food, and technical needs for an out-of-town trip."

When is the best time to book your band?

"Of course, we appreciate if there's ample time to understand our client's needs better and explore more possibilities with the music programming. For events with a unique program flow, at least two to three months preparation is ideal. If the event is out-of-town (excluding nearby locations like Tagaytay or Antipolo), even more prep time is better.

"Our peak seasons vary, usually December, February, and May—so if your event date falls under those months, please check our availability much earlier."
