If you’re like us, then you have your phone with you at all times. This means you’re always ready to snap your latest OOTD or share your IG-worthy meals on your stories. And even pro photographers can’t deny the benefits of shooting with your phone. “The great thing about mobile photography is that it is no fuss and instant,” shares fashion photographer Andrea Beldua.
But there are definitely ways to step up your mobile photography game and take truly aesthetic photos, so we asked pro photographers Andrea Beldua, Niccolo Cosme, and Noel Guevara to share their best tips and tricks with us. They also shared what it’s like to shoot with the CAMON 17 Pro, the smartphone they used to shoot photos for their different exhibits.
1. Experiment with angles.
The three photographers are in agreement with this tip: Shooting from different angles can make your photos a lot more interesting. “When shooting OOTDs, it’s always better to shoot slightly from below so as to lengthen your subject,” Andrea even shares. You might even be able to experiment with your phone’s settings if you can’t figure out which angle works best. “The CAMON 17 Pro has multiple cameras that you can use to vary your shots,” according to Noel, so the phone does the work for you.
2. Play around with lighting.
We all know that lighting can make or break a photo, so try different setups to get the best shot that you can. You can also play with your phone’s settings, especially if you’re shooting in low light. “The CAMON 17 Pro also has an awesome Super Night feature, which lets you capture great images even in the lowest lighting setting,” shares Niccolo. “I did a photo walk in Quiapo past 10 p.m. when it was pretty much empty. I really loved how the images came out. During the studio shoot, I also used the same feature since I shot with colored LED lights, it really worked great on my models.”
Andrea also shared how easy it is to make sure your photos aren’t overexposed: “Tap the brightest part of the photo you’re taking on your phone to adjust the exposure. Like, for example, the sky when taking a landscape pic. This makes sure that the photo will not have overblown highlights.”
And if all else fails, shooting in HDR mode is a great way to make the most out of the lighting you have. “Shoot in HDR mode when light is darker or brighter than ideal. This mode captures more details in the shadows and highlights so you can bring those out in post,” says Noel. “The HDR mode was truly wonderful and captured all the details in my landscape and underwater photos [featured in my exhibit].”
3. Highlight your subject.
The best way to do this is to shift to portrait mode on your CAMON 17 Pro! This blurs the background while keeping the subject focused. “When shooting portraits, look for deep backgrounds and use CAMON 17 Pro’s portrait mode for more appealing separation from foreground and background,” says Noel. “I love shooting portraits and the portrait mode helped give me that desirable blurred background.”
Like these photographers, you can step up your mobile photography game with the CAMON 17 Pro and CAMON 17P. Their features include 48MP AI Smart Selfie to preserve skin texture and fine facial features, Super Night Portrait to restore the warmth of the atmosphere, Mono Portrait and Portrait Bokeh to make your photos more artistic, and Magic Pixel to capture greater levels of detail when zooming.
