People have been getting more and more creative when it comes to themed celebrations—just take a look at this latest proof. What looked like a Disconnection Notice from Meralco turned out to be an invitation notice from an engaged couple.
With the exception of invited exes, many couples can't say their wedding invitation scared guests before it thrilled them. Soon-to-wed reporter Luisito Antonio Santos and radio DJ Joy Babor did just that with a Meralco-themed wedding invitation.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic control chief Edison “Bong” Nebrija shared his amusement with the couple’s Meralco-themed wedding invitation on his public Facebook page. From the logo to the text, the invitation looked like a billing statement from Meralco, which Nebrija said had him nervous at first.
“Pambihira LA and Joy, pinakaba nyo ako dun ah. Akala ko Meralco ngayon pala Mahalco!” Nebrija wrote on his viral Facebook post. “The most unique invitation I ever had.”
What gave it away was that Meralco was also changed to Mahalco for the logo, and “LA AND JOY WEDDING” was made as the addressee in the top right corner. The mailing address was also replaced to include the couple’s wedding information.
Both Santos and Babor pride themselves in being witty, so what came to mind in conceptualizing this invitation was the question "Paano ba nila tayo hindi makakalimutan?" Santos told SPOT.ph that they found the answer in a Meralco bill: "Lagi kasi inaabangan tapos iingatan para hindi makalimutang bayaran."
The best part? The couple did the entire invitation on their own!
"Target na talaga namin maging kakaiba ang invitation namin," Santos told SPOT.ph. "Since wala pa nakakagawa nito, kami na ang nag layout, kami na bumili ng mga materials at kami na rin nag print."
Still, it looks like Nebrija isn’t walking scot-free from his financial responsibilities as the couple’s ninong in the wedding. Babor replied to Nebrija in the comments section: “Nong, may disconnection notice yan sa loob. Wag mo kalimutan bayaran ha? este pumunta ka sa wedding day.”
We can only hope that other people who received this Mahalco notice in the mailbox didn’t throw the wedding invitation away to escape from theirs!
