A Facebook post is going viral after a woman allegedly held a house blessing for an Airbnb she doesn’t own. FB user Badette Galo called out the supposed renter who had invited guests and a priest to the house for her event. Tables were even set up outside the property for visitors to drink, eat, and hang out.

As per the post uploaded on July 1, the actual owner of the house is furious and has threatened to double the rent from its original P10,000 price.

The alleged renter has yet to comment on the matter, but netizens are already having a field day with the unusual controversy. It was even brought up during an episode of the noontime variety show It’s Showtime, where the hosts chimed in on the matter.

Bakit kayo nagpapaganun kung ’di sa inyo yung bahay?” wondered Vice Ganda. Meanwhile, Amy Perez offered that the renter might have staged it after feeling pressured to look good on social media. The others also called it a possible “fantasy” or the woman’s wish-fulfillment.

Netizens also expressed their different takes in the post’s comments section, with most of them in amused disbelief over the situation. Some people even came up with their own theories as to why the renter went to great lengths to stage the house blessing. One user joked that the house might be haunted, while another guessed that she could be trying to flex on her relatives abroad.

That said, a few others did try to find a more rational explanation behind the controversy. “Nag rent ba ng isang araw lang ? O mag re-rent ng ilang months?” asked a user who said that the blessing makes more sense if the renter were planning to live there longer.
