There are a lot of K-dramas currently running, but the series that's got us so hooked that we actually wait until 10 p.m. every weekend just to catch it is Netflix's Vincenzo! If you're already an avid fan like us, continue scrolling down for a big reveal!
In episode one, the K-drama introduced us to Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong Ki), with the landscapes of Italy as his backdrop. From intricate architecture and majestic vineyards, I was totally impressed with the show's filming locations that it made me ask myself: Did they film this pre-pandemic? How many weeks were they filming abroad? Do they have places like this in Korea? Well, surprise—the cast didn't have to travel far to get that Italian feel because they made it possible purely through computer graphics (CG)!
ICYDK, computer graphics refers to "the entire process of creating computer-generated imagery, from creating digital three-dimensional models to the process of texturing, rendering, and lighting those models, to the digital display of those renderings on a screen", according to Cornell University. K-dramas have been impressing us with their CGs for ages, but what makes Vincenzo's visual effects a cut above the rest is that it looks insanely realistic—it really feels like being transported to Italy! I mean, just look at these before and after shots:

With such jaw-dropping visual effects (and Song Joong Ki, aka one of the highest-paid Korean actors, as the lead), we won't be surprised if it's eventually revealed that this drama has a massive production budget.
