Online shopping may be all the rage, but Vicki Belo prefers to shop for designer bags in store. On July 7, 2022, the celebrity beauty doctor opened up about her love-hate relationship with online shopping through a vlog on YouTube.
In the video, Vicki talked about her luxury favorites for the month of May. Her list includes several pieces from Fendi and Versace's limited-edition collaboration called Fendace, Dolce & Gabbana, and Hermès.
But one of her most memorable purchases was a Chanel silver-tone hammered metal & silver metal evening clutch from the French luxury fashion house's Cruise 2021/22 collection. The bag had a price tag of USD16,000 or about PHP902,944.
According to Vicki, her sales representative said there were only two of these bags left in France. Vicki said, "I saw this bag... I saw it on Vogue, I think, or Elle, or Bazaar. I took a picture of the page, I sent to my sales associate at Chanel in Paris, 'Can you find it for me?' So the problem with buying online and the reason I don't like to do it is kasi I can't tell the size. It doesn't naman say."
"So in my head, I needed an evening bag. Akala ko naman it was a bit bigger. But when it arrived, it's very small. But according to her [sales associate], it was hard to find 'cause there's only two in France. Of course, nabudol na naman ako kasi limited edition." While the bag is cute, Vicki didn't like it very much since it was so small, it couldn't really hold anything other than a tube of lipstick.
"Nung nakita ko, sabi ko, 'A, anong gagawin ko dito?'" she recalled after seeing the bag in person for the first time. But Vicki still decided to buy the bag since her sales representative exerted a lot of effort just to secure it for her. "I don't know whether to be happy or sad because I thought it was gonna be an evening bag na medyo clutch-y na malaki. And then, it arrived like this. Since my S.A. had a hard time finding this, nahiya na akong huwag nang bilhin."
She continued, "Sabi ko, 'What will I put inside?' You know what she said to me? 'Nothing, lipstick! It's a statement piece!'"
But Vicki still feels that this Chanel bag is still a good investment piece since the brand has been increasing the price for its items over the past year. She said, "When you buy something [from Chanel], buy it now 'cause they raised prices five times last year, by 20 percent each time! Grabe, five times!"
