The Haunting of Bly Manor may be full of surprises onscreen, but oddly enough, it’s the offscreen revelations that have got the internet in a frenzy as of late.

Remember the shocked reactions, and flood of memes that followed, when we found out that Amelie Bea Smith, the actress who portrayed Flora, a.k.a. Ms. Perfectly Splendid, turned out to be the same actress that voices Peppa Pig? Yeah, well, there’s more where that came from.
As the internet has recently collectively discovered this week, it turns out Miles and Flora’s stoic and absent uncle is played by the same actor who portrayed Elliot on the 1982 cult classic sci-fi film, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial!
Yep, actor Henry Thomas, the child star who once famously frolicked with aliens back in the '80s, grew up to become Bly Manor’s mysterious and aloof Uncle Henry Wingrave 38 years later! Playing Elliott served as Henry’s breakout movie role back when he was just 11 years old.
In a fun fact pointed out by a Twitter account dedicated to the horror series, it seems E.T.’s Elliott and Bly Manor’s Henry even hold some sort of connection. Whether it was intended or not, they both have a penchant for telephones. “Henry Thomas, the actor who played Uncle Henry, was also the child actor in E.T. which had a famous phrase "phone home." In Bly Manor, his character was also constantly afraid to ‘phone home,’” wrote the Twitter user.
