A Filipina in Palawan recently became the subject of backlash after undergoing a procedure to have “bunny teeth.” TikTok content creator Ulya Nikita Hagedorn first posted about her new teeth in late July, and the two-minute clip managed to garner over five million views these past few weeks.
“I just got my bunny teeth done and I am obsessed,” she said in the now-viral video, beaming to show off her pearly whites. Ulya then explained that even though she already had a similar dental procedure done before, she wanted her front teeth to look even longer this time around.
“Disclaimer: I’ve always had bunny teeth but one of my two front teeth, na-chip siya so I had to go back to the dentist and have it fixed,” she shared. “I always kind of felt like it was a little too short, I wanted them to be a little longer. So I took the chance and asked my dentist if she could make them longer this time.”
“It’s the perfect length. I always want it to be peeking out while I’m talking,” she added with a bright smile, barely able to contain her excitement.
Although Ulya received a handful of compliments for her new smile, a lot of netizens didn’t feel the same way about her look. In fact, she received so many hate comments that she had to post two more follow-up videos just to shut down her bashers.
“It’s a bit too much. Looks unnatural,” one comment read. Another claimed that Ulya is only “gaslighting herself” and that “she will fix it some other time when she’s done being delulu.”
In response to the latter, Ulya said, “I love them. Y’all are honestly so mean and for what? What are you so mean for?” She also admitted that she’s starting to doubt her new look due to the mixed reactions she’s been getting. “Some people said that they’re a little too square. Maybe I can have them softened after a week, it’s not a big deal,” she replied.
Afterwards, she posted another video to delve into the details of her procedure. According to Ulya, she spent about P4,000 per tooth at a dental clinic across a shopping mall in Palawan, but there are also less expensive alternatives. “My first [set of] bunny teeth was like P1,500 per tooth,” she revealed. “This is P3,000 to P4,500 per tooth. But I’m pretty sure other dentists can do it for way cheaper and [they’ll] still look really nice.”
Ulya also clarified that her teeth are not veneers, so she can easily go back to her previous smile if she wanted. She shared, “No, they’re not veneers. This is just pasta. For people who don’t know what pasta is, it’s dental filling.”
Lastly, she addressed the naysayers in the comments section once and for all. “Y’all are just a bunch of haters. There’s a difference between saying that you like something and insulting somebody for something you don’t like. Having an opinion is different from being a little hater,” she stated.
