Here’s everything you need to know about "Twenty-Five Twenty-One":
Twenty-Five Twenty-One is a coming-of-age romantic drama set in the year 1998. It chronicles the lives of its characters as they’re forced to deal with the aftermath of a major financial turmoil in Korea in the 1990s, otherwise known as the IMF crisis. At the heart of the story are Baek Yi-jin (Nam Joo Hyuk) and Na Hee-do (Kim Tae Ri), two individuals who fall in love three years after they first meet at the ages of 22 and 18. Now 25 and 21, as the title suggests, their worlds collide in unexpected ways.
Kim Tae Ri top bills the cast as Na Hee-do, a fencing prodigy who competes for her high school. However, her athletic dreams are crushed when her team disbands due to the IMF crisis. Despite this setback, Hee-do remains determined to chase after her future no matter the cost.
Playing Tae Ri’s leading man, Joo Hyuk stars as Baek Yi-jin, the hardworking eldest son of a family that was torn apart by the crisis. He works various part-time jobs so he can eventually pursue his dream of becoming a reporter. “Sometimes, he makes mistakes, but if there’s something he has to do, he does it no matter what, and I really like that side [of him] the most,” Joo Hyuk said when asked to comment on his character.
Rounding up the cast are Lee Joo Myung (Kairos), Choi Hyun Wook (Racket Boys), and K-pop idol Bona (Homemade Love Story) of WJSN. Bona will be taking on the role of Go Yu-rim, a fencing gold medalist who's part of South Korea’s national team and Hee-do’s rival. Meanwhile, there’s also Moon Ji-woong (Choi Hyun Wook), an ambitious social media star, and Ji Seung-wan (Lee Joo Myung), a school president with the secret urge to act out and rebel.
