When it comes to food, and most other aspects of life, less is always more. Simple broths and the traditional gisa have long packed a savory punch in all types of cuisines, proving that there is greatness in lesser things on the palate. Capturing the homespun essence of rustic food, Tuny RestoFarm proves to be a salve in the augmented food industry today.
This off-the-grid restaurant defeats that notion that location is everything. You come to a standstill after traveling for hours, enter an intriguing brown gate, and drive into the verdant, secluded countryside of Silang, Cavite. Like falling down a rabbit hole, you’ll instantly be captured by the place’s meditative beauty.
Anthony and Emely Mendoza's Tuny RestoFarm has been in the works for 15 years. The one-hectare property was purchased to be a weekend rest stop, until the pandemic struck and it pushed them to explore turning it into an intimate farm-to-table restaurant.
Nothing beats a relaxing weekend when you have the entire place to yourself! Tuny RestoFarm is also a reservations-only establishment, with the intention of giving their customers ample chances to feel at ease by stepping away from the metropolitan craze and merry-go-round lifestyle they've gotten accustomed to.
Like the place, the menu is also an emblem of comfort. From the smoked bacon and Italian and Spanish sausages that appear in practically every meal, to the herbs and edible flowers gathered fresh from the plant to the plate, almost everything is produced in-house. Anthony, the co-owner of the restaurant, even smokes the meat himself on the restaurant's grill.
Everything is pre-ordered, so you can be saved from the hassle of deciding on the spot! If you are a first-time visitor, you can choose from a set menu (starts at P2220/adult) of varying cuisines—from Asian to Italian to Spanish, there’s something for everyone.
They also offer a wide selection of a la carte meals! You can sample their garlicky Angus Beef Ribeye Salpicao (P775), slow-cooked ox tripe Callos a la Madrilena (P725), or their All-Meat Paella (P675).
Don’t miss out on trying their more rustic pieces like the Caprese Salad (P745), Pumpkin Soup (P385), and their Japanese Egg Salad Sandwich (P655). If you’re celebrating an anniversary or a birthday, Tuny offers a moist banana birthday cake (P1850) too!
Should you find yourself with family, get the most out of the trip by ordering the Antonio’s Bandejado (P795)! Tuny's version of the English breakfast consists of two kinds of their farm-made sausages, farm-smoked bacon, farm-fresh eggs, and a special chili con carne meant for huge appetites.
