A line from Drake’s 2022 track “Middle of the Ocean” has found a second life on TikTok. In videos ranging from luxury getaways to tongue-in-cheek clips, users often pair their posts with the lyric: “I'm in the Missoni room at the Byblos.”
For many viewers, the reference has become shorthand for a certain level of Riviera luxury. But what exactly is the "Missoni room," and how much would it cost to spend a night there?
What Is the Hotel Byblos?
The Hotel Byblos is one of Saint-Tropez’s most recognizable luxury properties. Located just a short walk from Place des Lices, the hotel has been a fixture of the French Riviera since the 1960s.
According to the hotel’s official history, the property was conceived by Lebanese businessman Jean-Prosper Gay-Para, who envisioned creating a destination inspired by the stories of One Thousand and One Nights.
Construction began in 1965, and the hotel officially opened in May 1967 with a three-day celebration attended by hundreds of guests, including actress Brigitte Bardot and French actress Mireille Darc.

Over the decades, Hotel Byblos became associated with some of the biggest names in entertainment. The hotel notes that musicians, artists, and celebrities regularly stayed at the property during its early years. In 1971, Mick and Bianca Jagger spent their honeymoon there following their wedding in Saint-Tropez, helping cement the hotel’s international reputation.
Today, the hotel remains family-owned under Groupe Floirat and is home to several well-known amenities, including Les Caves du Roy nightclub, Byblos Beach, the Byblos Spa by Sisley, multiple restaurants, and a central pool that has become one of the property's most recognizable features.

Inside the Missoni Presidential Suite at Hotel Byblos
The suite referenced in Drake's song no longer officially exists under its former name.
According to Elite Traveler, the accommodation once known as the Missoni Suite has since been redesigned and renamed the Presidential Suite. The publication reported that the suite recently underwent a major renovation and remains the hotel's signature accommodation.
The Presidential Suite spans approximately 1,935 square feet and includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two shower rooms, a 70-square-meter living room overlooking the Byblos pool and the Alpilles mountains, and a private terrace measuring 25 square meters.
Before its redesign, the suite featured the signature patterns of Italian fashion house Missoni throughout the space, appearing across furnishings and decorative elements.
A stay in the Presidential Suite comes with several additional perks, according to Hotel Byblos. Guests receive daily buffet breakfast, complimentary non-alcoholic minibar beverages, a personalized VIP welcome, a welcome gift, a €200 laundry credit, and round-trip airport transfers from Nice Airport for stays of five nights or longer.
So how much does it cost to book the suite once known as Drake’s “Missoni room”?
According to Elite Traveler, rates for the Presidential Suite start at around $14,900 per night, or roughly P904,000. Prices can vary depending on season and availability, but a multi-night stay can easily reach several million pesos.
