Yes, it's true: The 2001 Korean romantic comedy film My Sassy Girl is finally getting a Philippine remake—and it will star none other than Toni Gonzaga!
Toni—who happens to also be celebrating her 37th birthday today, January 20—confirmed the news on her Instagram stories by sharing the official announcement made by Tin Can Films, a production company owned by the actress herself which is also affiliated with her husband Paul Soriano's boutique film company Ten17P.

"In celebration of [My Sassy Girl's] 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation," says the announcement. "On her birthday, we are proud to announce [that] Toni Gonzaga is Philippines’ My Sassy Girl! #MySassyGirlPH"
My Sassy Girl, one of South Korea's highest grossing romantic comedy films of all time, was the movie that skyrocketed Hallyu superstar Jun Ji Hyun to fame back in 2001. Also starring Cha Tae Hyun, it tells the story of a college student who crosses paths with a drunken girl while riding the subway. He soon finds himself in a relationship that he didn't ask for with a sassy girl who's bound to change his fate forever. The movie's roaring success has spawned international remakes, including American, Chinese, and Japanese adaptations.

While further details for My Sassy Girl's Philippine adaptation have yet to be announced, including its official release date and Toni's leading man, it seems that the film is slated to come out sometime this year.
That said, the production company did give a sneak peek of the upcoming movie by revealing some of the official stills. Here's your first look at Toni Gonzaga as the Philippines' very own My Sassy Girl:

One thing's for sure: We can't wait! Congratulations, Toni!
