Beloved Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, have both tested positive with COVID-19.
Tom, 63, confirmed the news on his personal Instagram page, posting a pic of a latex glove discarded in a trash bin. "To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive," he wrote. The calmly worded post has received thousands of comments, most of which expressed shock as well as prayers of healing for the couple.
Tom is the first celebrity to come forward with his diagnosis. This follows a hoax scare of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe allegedly contracting the virus.
Amid global distress over the epidemic, Tom remains cool-headed toward this startling update. "The Medical officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated," he wrote.
