Opening in the aftermath of the 1485 battle of Bosworth (the final conflict in England's bloody War of the Roses), the eight-episode miniseries tells the tale of Elizabeth of York, who is forced to marry the newly-crowned Henry VII in order to finally bring peace to their warring families. The catch: they hate each other. Elizabeth struggles, torn between loyalty to her blood relatives, placating her husband and mother-in-law, and making a rising name for herself at court.
