After two decades since the search for the most beautiful woman in the Universe was last held here, Miss Universe is coming back to the Philippines. It’s confeermed, ladies and beks! DOT Secretary Wanda Teo announced the great news at a press conference in Makati today.
The annual extravaganza was first held in our tropical shores back in 1974, following the win of Margarita Moran in 1973. The pageant then came back to the Philippines in 1994, where the country fell in love with the reigning winner at that time, Dayanara Torres. This coming January 30, 2017, we suggest you mark your calendars because Miss Universe will take place in our country once again.
At the press conference earlier today, the DOT Secretary also mentioned that “the government is not going to spend any single centavo. It will be the private sector who would shoulder the expenses." Henry Sy and Japanese billionare and chief of Okada Manila, Kazuo Okada were mentioned.
If God permits, a back-to-back win for us, then we can’t imagine an even better scenario and venue for reigning Queen Pia Wurtzbach to turn over the crown. This is so exciting!
