Instagram’s “Stories” feature has come a long way since it was rolled out last August of 2016, now offering more filters and font styles for users to choose from. You would think it'd be more than enough for posts that only last for 24 hours, but clearly there’s nothing that will keep the chicest of digital content creators from stepping up their social media game. We noticed the likes of Camie Juan, Mond Gutierrez, and Camille Co using a cool new app to edit their Instagram Stories—so naturally, we were tempted to give it a test run, too!

Introducing: Unfold, a “toolkit for storytellers [to] create beautiful and engaging stories with minimal and elegant templates.” And the good news? It can be downloaded for free!

I decided to try it during a recent trip to Balesin Island for Epson PhilippinesFusion 9. It’s an annual event that the brand hosts with participants from the media, which involved a tour around the photogenic resort, a sunset cruise aboard a luxurious yacht, and an Amazing Race-themed group activity, hence it was the perfect chance for me to tinker with a new editing app for my Instagram Stories.

The first on our to-do list was a Balesin tour. It was a huge resort brimming with picturesque spots, so I had more than enough material to experiment with as I tried to familiarize myself with my newly downloaded app.

Unlike VSCO and other apps, Unfold didn’t require me to register before I could use its features, so I went straight to the first step, which was to create a new “story.” Each story consists of pages, which you can customize according to your choice of template. There are six different font styles available if you want to add text in your pages, too. Below are some of the IG Stories I uploaded during our Balesin tour:

As you can see, some templates allow multiple photos in one page. But if you have one photo in particular—say, an OOTD or a random favorite shot—that you prefer to upload on its own, there are also several templates for that. The text, on the other hand, is optional.

and here’s a sample one-photo template!

Did I mention you can upload videos, too? The app supports both photo and video media, while also allowing high-res exports.

Below’s a sample IG Story with a video that I uploaded from the Epson event, in which the brand introduced their state-of-the-art textile printer. It was the first time I’ve seen Epson’s SureColor SC-F2130 Direct-To-Garment Printer in action (FYI, local designer John Herrera took advantage of this digital fabric printing technology last year and won London Emerging Designers Award), so of course I had to film the process.

Impressive, isn’t it?

The next day, I was already feeling a lot more comfortable with the app. We had a race scheduled in the morning and a sunset cruise aboard M/Y Obsessions in the late afternoon, both of which I enjoyed documenting on my IG Stories using Unfold.

Check out how the day went below:

If you couldn't tell by now, I had quite a lot of fun editing my Instagram Stories using Unfold. It made documenting my experiences more challenging in a way, but the process also gave a more profound meaning to being a "storyteller" as I tried to put images together that made more sense in the same page. Not to mention, its overall minimalist yet sophisticated aesthetic sure doesn't hurt either—the font styles remind me of that classic feeling of flipping through the pages of a paperbook. Never gets old.

What do you think? Will you be downloading this app?
