Why choose between food and travel when you can have the best of both worlds? Such is true for Melissa Hie, an Indonesian blogger based in Singapore who constantly travels around the globe to take pictures of—yup, you guessed it—food! But just so you know, we’re not just talking about your average #foodstagram here. Her photos are always on point, shot against iconic destinations that jetsetters and adventure-seekers alike might so easily recognize.
The Great Wall of China
The Eiffel Tower in Paris
Fushimi Inari Shrine in Japan
Taj Mahal in India
The drill is pretty simple: to travel, eat, and snap a photo! So far, she’s been to 31 different countries, including USA, Australia, France and even the Philippines.
Melissa documents all of her food and travel adventures through @girleatworld, a dedicated Instagram account which she started after her Japan trip back in May 2014. As of writing, it’s only nine thousand followers shy from reaching the 300K mark, and it’s still continuously growing with random 'grammers already creating their own versions and using the hashtag #girleatworld.
Here are some of our faves so far:
Coconut ice cream in Penang, Malaysia
Sipping on cocktails at Santorini, Greece
Chocolate-dipped strawberries in front of La Grand Place in Brussels, Belgium
Stone-baked crackers at Indein Village near Lake Inle in Myanmar
Gelato in front of the Milan Cathedral in Italy
Wow. Talk about satisfying both your food craving and wanderlust at the same time! BRB, gotta follow @girleatworld now.
