A new art installation is catching traction online. Dubbed “The Victor,” its towering build is impossible to miss if you find yourself somewhere on the border of Pasig and Quezon City. In case you’ve yet to come across it though, its a silver structure of a man with his fist in the air, meant to be the centerpiece of Bridgetowne, a real estate development project by Robinsons Land Corporation.

1. It’s taller than the Statue of Liberty
Weighing 330 tons or 660,000 lbs. and standing at a staggering 60 meters, The Victor is one of the tallest art installations in the world. It’s even taller than the Statue of Liberty! Without its pedestal, the New York landmark is 46 meters high from feet to torch, while The Victor measures 55 meters sans its 5-meter podium.
2. It was created by Fil-Am artist Jefre Manuel-Figueras
At the helm of this hefty feat is Fil-Am artist Jefre Manuel-Figueras. Though based in Orlando, this isn’t Jefre’s first major project in Manila. He was also the creative behind the “Bayani” and “Pag-asa” sculptures in Pasay, and the 40-foot “Time” installation along EDSA.
3. It was inspired by the success of Filipinos around the world
The Victor owes its initial inspiration to the story of the late John Gokongwei Jr. and the adversities he faced to find success. Aside from this, Jefre explains that the structure was also built to celebrate the hard work of Filipinos both here and abroad. “It is about the heart and soul of the Filipino…it's related to everyone, all of us,” he shared during a press event.
4. It’s made to resist erosion and heavy storms
As per its developers, The Victor was made with marine-grade perforated steel, meant to weather through erosion and heavy rainfall. The material also gives the statue a semi-translucent appearance perfect for projecting light shows.
5. Visitors can soon get up close and personal with The Victor
According to Jefre, construction is on the way to install stairs up to the base of the monument so visitors can get a closer look at The Victor and take photos beside its reflective feet.
