As Preview ushers in a new era of fashion and art, it's only fitting that the accompanying cover would push boundaries while giving a nod to the future of inclusivity we are championing. September saw the team take it up a notch by producing our first-ever moving cover starring Gen Z's brightest star Belle Mariano. Apart from trailblazing in this new format, we also wanted to shine the spotlight on the teams who tend to and feed the local industry's creative flame.
The Making Of Belle Mariano's September 2022 Preview Moving Cover
"The production for this cover shoot has been next level, and we’ve really been equally excited and nervous at the same time," Preview's Editor-in-Chief Marj Ramos-Clemente revealed in the latest episode of The Making Of. Since it has never been done before, the pressure was on to do it right. Art Director Bacs Arcebal visualized a surreal aesthetic that tied in with the 2022 Preview Ball. This was brought to life by Creative 25 honoree Aren Santos and his AdSet team.
Lensed by Charisma Lico, a photographer recently lauded in this year's Most Influential 50, we see Belle claim her spot in fashion's forefront. Decked in pieces that are "fun, youthful, and with a slight edge," Managing Editor Steph Sison's fashion direction included pieces by top local and international designer brands. This message was further solidified as makeup artist Jake Galvez and hair stylist RJ Dela Cruz amped the glam with beauty looks not previously seen on the 20-year-old before.
Simon Te then made sure that the energy of the production was captured and translated into film. Taking inspiration from the Rube Goldberg Machine allowed a fresh approach on moving covers as it showcased the work that is done behind the images. Afterall, as Marj said, "every time we do a cover shoot, we always try to tell a story." And as with any good story, you are left clamoring for what's next.
