Boys Over Flowers fans, are you ready to meet Thailand’s first-ever F4? We honestly can’t wait to fall in love with this series all over again! Originally based from a Japanese manga, the BOF saga has had numerous adaptations—from Taiwan’s Meteor Garden (2001), to Japan’s Hana Yori Dango (2005), to South Korea’s Boys Over Flowers (2009), and as of recent, China’s Meteor Garden (2018). It’s pretty obvious how much of a cult-favorite this drama series truly is around the world. Frankly, despite the repetitive premise we’ve already memorized by heart, we don’t think we’ll ever get sick of it!
Can’t wait to meet yet another version of your favorite handsome rich boys? Below, we round up everything we know so far about the upcoming series remake, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers:
1. It embodies a darker yet relevant plot.
F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers will have its own take on the classic plot we all grew to love. The crux of the story centers around four wealthy and undeniably handsome university boys whose worlds revolve on money and fame. If they take one step in the wrong direction, they’re confident that they can quickly make things right with just their influence and bank account.
However they can’t always have it their way forever, and when we see F4’s leader Thyme on the floor with a girl holding him down by his collar as the rest of the boys dumbfoundedly stare at the pair, we all know their lives are about to change soon. As far as the bad boy meets good girl trope goes, this remake will be using social media as a huge tool to drive the characters’ motive and story, while tackling social issues in Thai society such as online bullying.
2. The cast members will definitely catch your eye.
Vachirawit "Bright" Chivaree portrays Thyme, the leading man, and Metawin "Win" Opas-iamkajorn plays Kavin, the charismatic womanizer. Names sound familiar? That’s because these two starred as a couple in the BL hit show 2gether: The Series, along with its sequel Still 2gether.
