If you’re hooked on HBO Max’s newest Gossip Girl Reboot, then most probably you’re slowly getting a sense of which character resembles who from the last elite generation. With the release of the pilot episode last week, it seems like we’re jumping straight into the social media surveillance of the new Gossip Girl, Kate Keller.
Played by American actress Tavi Gevinson, it is interesting to see her character immediately revealed from being a Constance Billard teacher to becoming the leader of Gossip Girl’s Instagram account. But knowing how this show can get fabulously messy, there could be clues somewhere that we haven’t taken notice of. That said, you might have not known that Kate recreated Serena van der Woodsen’s look for the first episode!
We’ve spotted Kate’s black and white striped long sleeves top underneath a light brown blazer to be reminiscent of Serena’s leather jacket look from the first series. What made this look extra iconic was the pink scarf tied on Kate’s neck, similar to Serena’s go-to accessory.
On top of that, we can all agree that It Girl Julien and her little sister Zoya look like they’re the new Blair and Serena; however, this time, they really are sisters. Speaking of siblings, Zoya’s cute Constance Billard uniform is quite identical to Jenny Humphrey’s plaid jumper skirt uniform, too! And of course, we can’t forget the quintessential Met Gala meet-up spot that we all love.
These similarities just goes to show how all of these tiny details remind us of how we’re only getting ready for whatever mayhem this new batch of young elites will get into. Although, we can’t shake off this looming suspicion if we’re really starting off this series with Gossip Girl’s identity already revealed. The question still lies: Could this be a deliberate way of not leaving space for mystery only to pull off a plot twist in the end? Well, we have yet to find out. After all, this is the next generation in the Upper East Side. While it’s still too early to tell if these are clues or just merely a nod to the original series, we’re still on the edge of our seats waiting for the glamorous chaos to unravel!
