Kim Soo Hyun’s much-awaited K-drama comeback, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, is almost here—and honestly, June 20 couldn’t come soon enough! We’re calling it: Netflix’s upcoming series, which is described to be a “healing romance that resembles a storybook fantasy,” will surely be everyone’s next K-drama obsession.
We already gave you the lowdown on Kim Soo Hyun a.k.a. the drama’s dashing headliner, but we know you still have plenty of questions—particularly about his gorgeous, soon-to-be leading lady! Well, starring alongside him is 30-year-old actress Seo Ye Ji, who you might remember from Moorim School: Saga of the Brave: (2016), Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016), Save Me (2017), and most recently, Lawless Lawyer (2018). Another fun fact: She’s actually signed with the same entertainment agency as Soo Hyun called Gold Medalist.
In the drama, Ye Ji takes on the role of Ko Mun-yeong, a successful children’s book author with antisocial personality disorder. She’s described to be “extremely selfish, arrogant, and rude.” Not the typical way to explain the traits of your average leading lady, don’t you think? So intriguing!
In an interview with Soompi, Ye Ji talked more about the cold charms of her character in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. “She’s such a powerful character. She can be cool at times and is able to see people just the way they are without any prejudice. I’m working hard to ensure that Ko Mun-yeong leaves a good impression with viewers so they can accept her for who she is. I think viewers will have fun seeing [her] unique style as well.”
She also added: “I think this will be a refreshing drama because the romance in it is different from what I’ve shown in the past. I hope viewers will also anticipate the journey Go Moon Young takes to heal her personal scars.”
