Samantha Bernardo raises the Philippine flag in the world of pageantry as she bags first runner-up place in Miss Grand International 2020 competition, with Miss Grand USA Abena Akuaba Appiah winning the title.

The rest of the runners-up came from Guatemala, Indonesia, and Brazil.

The Filipina beauty queen was an early fan favorite and consistently got high votes in the pre-pageant competions like the swimsuit and national costume segments. Samantha wowed the crowd in her agila costume created by local designer Patrick Isorena.

Samantha now joins previous Miss Grand International Philippines titleholders and crowned queens Elizabeth Clenci (2017, second runner-up) and Nicole Cordoves (2016, first runner-up). The Philippines has yet to claim the elusive Miss Grand International title.

Samantha Bernardo was handpicked by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. to represent the country in Miss Grand International. She succeeded reigning titleholder Aya Abesamis who was unable to compete because of age restrictions.
Congratulations, Samantha!
