There are many factors that make one a top airline when it comes to safety, and it's not just airworthiness. They also include operations, navigation services, accident investigations, and the age of its fleets, among others. In fact, the International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit has over 1,000 parameters to help audit and evaluate airlines, so if you're flying with one included in the top 20 safest, that means that unless something really untowardly occurs, you can kick back on your flight and rest easy.
