Dr. Kimberly Wong-Sibayan knew early on exactly how her big day would look, just by watching SDE videos with her med school blockmate, turned best friend, turned boyfriend, Dr. Kurt Sibayan. “Since then, I already had a vision of my dream wedding, from the theme and color palette to the tiniest details,” she tells Preview.  That’s why when Kurt proposed last January, their upcoming nuptials became a strong motivator for the pair to pass the Physicians Licensure Exam in March. “I was really excited to plan our wedding already,” she shares.

Fresh from the exam and ready to start planning, they unfortunately had to put everything on hold because of the rise in COVID cases in the country. It was in May, however, when they realized that the guidelines were no clearer; so they decided to push through, no matter what. This meant opting for a nearer destination, and limiting the guest list to just their immediate family and closest friends. It was a difficult yet necessary move to abide by IATF restrictions and to ensure their guests’ safety during their once-in-a-lifetime event.

“During the pandemic and along with all the lockdowns, planning can really be stressful and hard at times. But we’re really thankful because our coordinators Maxine Covar and Jeselle Navarrete handled us well and helped us make sure that the wedding we envisioned came true.”

A vision it was, indeed. With soft yet vibrant hues, an abundance of flowers, and dainty, organic details such as rattan baskets and pampas grass, Gunita Villas and Pavillion looked straight out of  a page from a storybook. The fairy lights and floating tea light candles further created an enchanting atmosphere worthy of any princess and her prince charming. This dreaminess was then magnified by the spectacular display of cotton candy skies, after the ceremony was delayed for two hours due to heavy rain.

Those in attendance, and those celebrating virtually with them, were treated to a dazzling spectacle made all the more whimsical thanks to the personal touches Kimberly and Kurt sprinkled throughout their wedding.

Below, we list down five style elements that made this aesthetic wedding all the more meaningful.

Both profound and IG-worthy at the same time, we’re definitely taking notes as our blushing bride, Kimberly, tells us more.

1. A pastel palette that livened up the venue

How they did it: “Together with my stylist, Bhem Meijer of Il Fiore Flower Boutique, and Maxine Covar Events, we played with the colors: blush, peach, white, green, teal and a pop of terracotta to create a dreamy rustic theme.”

2. Delightful tablescape features and a bit of DIY

How they did it: “My personal favorites were the raffia placemats from Albay, which complemented the aesthetic ambiance and the DIY place cards with terracotta frayed chiffon ribbon that my cousin and I made a day before.”

3. A quirky aisle with a heart-warming tale

How they did it: “For the ceremony, I asked my stylist to make the aisle unique, so we opted for a zigzag aisle with continuous floral decor, and completed the look with pampas grass and cross-back chairs… Even a month after the wedding, the most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle after a heavy rain. It was the perfect moment for me, especially when I saw Kurt crying as I walked down the aisle.”

4. An entourage that packs on the (bow-)wow factor

How they did it: “We treat our fur-babies as family and we made sure that they were included in our wedding no matter what. We came up with this idea because, at first, we didn’t have a ring bearer, so [we thought] why not include Rocco as part of our entourage? Pastor Hope suggested putting our dogs in a cart to prevent them from playing around while walking down the aisle. Rocco and Kisses wore floral necklaces prepared by Miss Bhem of Il Fiore that made them look so cute.”

5. Thoughtful giveaways that are totally for the wedding books

How they did it: “Every detail in our wedding was executed perfectly, but one of these topped them all: the giveaways together with the personalized champagne glasses with [each] guest’s name printed on them. I came up with this idea because I wanted them to have their own glass to use throughout the wedding. For the souvenirs, we gave them our favorite delicacies from our hometown. We included Ilocos inabel blankets, Benguet coffee, lengua de gato and strawberry jam from Baguio, as well as pili nuts, tablea and abaca bayong from Albay.”
