For athletes, their gear is part and parcel of their sporting career. It not only helps them drive their performance better, it also keeps them safe and protected from injuries. But Rhea Bullos, an 11-year-old girl from Balasan, Iloilo, managed to score three gold medals at a local race despite not owning a pair of running shoes.
In a feat of pure human prowess, the young female athlete successfully bagged the gold medals from three categories: a 400-meter dash, an 800-meter run, and a 1500-meter run. Her trainer, Predirick B. Valenzuela, proudly took it to Facebook to share her inspiring story—and as of writing, the now-viral post has garnered over 700 shares and has even been picked up by several local news outlets, all in awe of her passion and dedication.
Rhea’s trainer also posted the makeshift "spike shoes" made out of plaster bandage with the signature Nike swoosh logo drawn on them.
Since the post went viral, netizens have been raving about her on social media. While some are clamoring for brand sponsorships, others have already reached out to help:
With the country’s triumph in the recently concluded SEA Games, we could be looking at a future sports star in the making. Now, can someone sponsor this promising athlete a pair or two of actual Nike sneakers, please?
