The Rainy Season Has Officially Arrived, Says PAGASA
Bye-bye, beach!

It's time to stow away your bikinis and bust out your trusty umbrellas. Last Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has officially declared the start of the rainy season.

In a statement released on their site, PAGASA announces that the onset of the rainy season is confirmed due to the "widespread rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon" across the PAGASA weather stations in the country.

For Luzon, we'll be experiencing "near to above normal" rainfall conditions while parts of Visayas and Mindanao regions will encounter "below normal" rainfall conditions. According to their forecast, the El Niño phenomenon is set to last until August 2019. "However, breaks in rainfall events (also known as monsoon break) that can last for several days or weeks may still occur," PAGASA adds.

PAGASA also advises the general public to "take precautionary measures against the impacts of the rainy season."
