Make the fight for what's right a tasty one.

June is Pride Month, which is more than just a month given its radical history and what it means for LGBTQ+ folks today. The community still faces challenges and discrimination on many levels, from individual to societal, that ought to be given more awareness of—and it’s only right that its members get the platform and opportunity to celebrate who they are and who they love.

Make no mistake: there’s way more to Pride Month than just buying rainbow items and calling it a day. There is no sub for real systemic change—but if you’re looking to celebrate on a scrumptious note, or at least make the fight for what's right a tasty one, these Pride-Month specials and other colorful eats have got you covered.

7 Rainbow-Colored Foods to Try This Pride Month

Croissant purveyor Butterboy’s bringing back a color-filled creation they launched last year, and improved on it, too. Yup, we’re talking about their French Vanilla Rainbow Croissant, which features their flaky laminated pastry tinted blue, green, yellow, and red—and filled with a dreamy French vanilla cream filling complete with visible specks of vanilla bean. This is sold as part of their Pride Sampler Box (P550), which has two of the rainbow croissants plus two Classic Butter Croissants, one Pain au Chocolat, and one Kouign Amann.

For orders, visit Butterboy’s Cococart website. You can also check out their Facebook page.

FFTG or Food for the Gays Cafe is a proudly LGBTQ+-owned spot and safe space for folks of all identities and orientations—and apart from serving baked goods and playing host to a variety of events, they also make a mean and IG-worthy Grilled Cheese Sandwich (P80). This ain’t just any old grilled cheese, mind you; slicing the sandwich and pulling it apart reveals a picturesque exterior of rainbow-colored cheese in all its melty, gooey glory.

FFTG Cafe is at 58 13th Avenue, Cubao, Quezon City. You can also check out their Facebook page.

Local ice-cream shop Sebastian’s has been making Pride Pops—their line of multilayered ice popsicles in colors representing different communities within the LGBTQ+ sphere—for a good couple of years now, and they’re back. Take your pick from the fruity Rainbow Pride Pop (P95) based on the revised Pride Flag, the chocolatey Bear Pride Pop (P95) based on the Bear Pride Flag, and the bright and Yakult-laced Transgender Pride Pop (P95) based on the Trans Flag; every color layer’s got a different flavor, too. For an even grander treat, try the returning Rainbow Ice Cream Cake (P155/slice, P1,650/whole) with layers of ube cake, blueberry ice cream, avocado ice cream, lemon cake, orange sherbet, strawberry sorbet, sweet-cream ice cream, a crunchy milk crumb, and edible gold glitter.

Sebastian's Ice Cream is at 4/F The Podium, ADB Avenue, Ortigas, Mandaluyong City. For delivery orders, check out Sebastian's Ice Cream's website. You can also check out their Facebook page.
