Here's the thing about pursuing your dreams: If there’s a will, there’s always a way—no matter how bleak your chances may look. Or, at least that’s how Mayrhose Coronado chose to live her life. A Filipina domestic helper working in Singapore, May isn’t your ordinary house help. How so? Well, she also happens to be a photographer, and currently has over 21K followers on Instagram. No big deal. “After years of isolating myself, I had this insatiable hunger for knowledge. I craved for human connection, and I was longing to meet like-minded people,” May reveals in an interview with TheSmartLocal.com. “It was in the midst of my despondency where I discovered my love for photography. After, I realized that there’s so much more to life than being unhappy about my situation.”
Thanks to her pure love and passion for photography, May's Instagram account is a colorful burst of beautiful shots involving the varying sights and scenes of Singapore. Her inspiring journey is proof that it’s never too late in life to pursue what you really want, no matter your age or economic status. As part of her growing achievements, she was even hailed as one of Instagram’s most suggested users for July back in 2015. Not only that, but she was also invited by Apple Singapore to lead a photowalk, and has since then joined and won several competitions.
