Pia Wurtzbach made Filipinos proud when she won Miss Universe in 2015. That coronation night had everyone on the internet talking: Her winning answer about being "confidently beautiful with a heart" became iconic and trending on Twitter, plus the moment she was announced as the winner. Who could forget that Steve Harvey mixup? Steve announced Miss Columbia a winner by mistake and then later on clarified that it was Pia who really bagged the Miss Universe Crown. Speculations and support for her win peppered social media conversations.
Although her reign started with controversy, Pia proved to be the queen who truly deserved the crown. In an episode of Cosmo.ph's Cosmo Confessions, she addresses yet another Miss U-related rumor: That she allegedly bought the crown to win.
"I don't know how you do that," the beauty queen said, pertaining to the old rumor. Pia also addressed others alleging that "the president bought the crown" for her.
"We don't use our taxpayers' money like that," she explained. Alongside that, the former Miss Universe elaborated that there had been rumors of her "sleeping around" for the coveted title.
"There's always some kind of rumor around why I won. I don't know where that comes from. It's not true, just letting you guys know."
